Claudia Poser's art reflects her interest in the tension between order and emotion, the rational and organic. She finds beauty in both natural and manufactured detail. Her ceramic sculptures and mixed media works explore themes of growth and transformation. Until recently, she worked, displayed, and sold her art primarily at her studio at Northern Clay Center. Her formal training is in science - she has a PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Massachusetts. Claudia grew up in Germany, steeped in modernism and Scandinavian design, exposed to art and museums by her mother who was passionate about art history and travel. She discovered ceramics as her primary medium in the early 90's when studying at Northern Clay.
